With ever increasing costs and reduced income from sponsorship it was something that the Show Society could not ignore. The capacity to fund raise is also getting more difficult. If no fund raising had been undertaken this year then the Show would have made a substantial loss. Of course we were not helped by the weather. We can never guarantee good weather but there is much anecdotal evidence to indicate that public attendance at the Show will increase substantially by moving to a Sunday.

This year’s Show cost over £40,000 to stage and it is a tremendous commitment for a one day show. Sunday has become the traditional family day out and it makes economic sense to tap into that extra potential revenue. The Show needs to make a profit to give it a financial cushion to enable it to plan future Shows.

Tockwith & District Show are once again holding a Bonfire and Firework Display on Saturday, November 5th on our show field, Cattal Moor Lane, Tockwith.

The gate will open at 6pm, with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm and fireworks from 7pm. Admission is only £3.50 for adults and for all children under 12yrs of age FREE! All children under 16yrs of age must be accompanied by an adult.

As in previous years the Tockwith Show committee will be providing hot food and drinks – local grilled sausages and hot pork sandwiches, all meat provided by Dean Hullah of Whixley and delicious soups, using local produce. The committee will also have been busy baking bonfire goodies, such as parkin and gingerbread etc.

If you’re looking for a friendly, local and reasonably priced bonfire event Tockwith Show would be delighted to see you on November 5th. (No personal fireworks/sparklers allowed on the showfield).
