Offas’s Dyke Day 5

Day 5 started with another stroll around Hay-On-Wye and a look at the very delapidated castle. Sam posed outside the enormous book storehe could read where he had managed to find a book that he could acytually read (more on the books influence tommorrow). The going was easy to start with and we had been promised great views from Hergest ridge in the latter miles of the walk. A bit of a dissapointment was the pub being shut at the half way point of the day so lunch was eaten in the bus shelter next door. The views were very good from the ridge but what was amazing was the fact that they used to have a race course up there, the outline of which are clearly visible. There was also a very random group of monkey puzzle trees which we were still seeing on the horizon 2 days later. The night was spent at the Old House B&B in Kington. A beautifil 16th century building that was in fact 3 cottages made into 1. Best service so far by miles.
